The Danube Bend 10.9.13

Today we got up early and drove the car outside of Budapest. We went to five different places: Esztergom, Visegrad, Szentendre, Skanzen and, sort of, Slovakia.

The first place that we went to was Esztergom. In Esztergom, there is a small town, but we went to see this massive church up on a hill. Inside the church were heaps of different patterns and a huge dome. We also got to climb the dome. It was awesome. We were really high and had a great view all around. The stairs were really steep and I don't think Grandma or Nanna would have liked it very much!

The next place was Visegrad. We didn't really go into this town, just up above it to see some old fort. It was a bit random, but the views over the river were amazing! We could also see Slovakia and it made me really excited because I know we are going there in a couple of days!

Szentendre was a beautiful village. It had another church and mum and dad let me light a prayer candle. We looked out from the church and could see all the roofs of the town. It was cool. From there we went to Skanzen which was an open-air museum. We walked around for a bit and had a look at some old Hungarian houses including a bakery (which made Dad happy) and then they had a working farm where we could see lots of animals. They had goats, pigs, horses, chickens and a really big Hungarian cow with huge horns! There was a beautiful windmill as well.

Tomorrow, we are having another day in Budapest!

  1. There are some incredibly beautiful little villages all around there. It looks like you have visited some of them. The weather doesn't look too summery!
I don't really think Pat deserves to be in the stocks!
