After the Citadella, we tried to get to a town half way between Budapest and Vienna called Gyor. The GPS was taking us to the middle of nowhere which was a problem. Mum and Dad decided to stop at a pub in some random small town and we had a coffee, milk and some chips for morning tea. Mum tried to talk to the lady behind the bar but she spoke no English and Mum even tried some Thai words, but they couldn't understand each other!

After morning tea, we drove to Bratislava in Slovakia. I really wanted to go to Slovakia because I wanted to find out more about its name and flag and to me the name of the country sounded cool. We found somewhere in the city to sit and eat our sandwiches and then we climbed a big hill to look at a castle. We couldn't go inside but we had a good look at the castle. There were heaps of spots along the wall where in the olden days soldiers would shoot at people on the other side of the wall but the gaps were small because that would protect them from the other side as well. I thought that was good thinking!

Then we kept on driving to Vienna. It didn't take long and we food our apartment. We settled in and then went for a little walk as we were right near the centre of town. The main square was huge and it was full of people. We went looking for a famous restaurant that one of Mummy's Thai police friends told her about. It was famous for its Austrian schnitzel. Of course everyone ate schnitzel and mum and dad's schnitzel was way off their plate. We ate another ice-cream after dinner even though it was cold!

I presume your GPS eventually worked - or did Mum find someone who spoke Thai? What lovely views of Budapest from the Citadella.
ReplyDeleteWhen we were in Vienna there were lots of people in costume, and all the horse drawn carriages, in the square near St Stephen's Cathedral.
While you are in Austria you have to make sure you try an apple strudel, which is as famous as the schnitzel.
Haven't you been just so many places in nearly two weeks? What experiences you will have to share with everyone.

We are loving following you holiday adventures. The photos that you have taken are fantastic. Looking forward to reading your next blog.
ReplyDeleteLove to all!
Hi Clarey
ReplyDeleteYou might wonder where we've been. It's been a while since we replied to your blog. We have been camping at Seal Rocks - Mummy and Daddy know where that is and only got back today. You have had so many adventures since we last looked. We really loved Bratislava - the photos were fantastic! We liked the one with you and Paddy called 'Street Art' the best. We had a bit of an adventure too as we had a huge stormy night on Friday - heaps of lightning, thunder, wind and rain - ALL NIGHT LONG! No one at the camp got any sleep but the camper didn't leak a drop which was great. Tell me, do you find the 'old' parts of cities much more interesting than the 'new' bits? We certainly did when we were in Europe. Enjoy wherever you go next
lots and lots of love to everyone
